Hi, Welcome Again !!
I am Himanshi and I will complete my bachelor's degree in Computer Application in July 2023. While earning my degree, I worked as a marketer for small to medium-sized start-ups where I discovered my passion for design. I believe that design can turn complex ideas into reality and solve problems.
Why Design, Exactly?
Like most people, I learned about design by working with a designer through my marketing position. I always got more excited about the design part of the project which makes me question my own career choice in the first place. The more I learn about design, the more value it brings to my life. While diving deep into the domain of knowledge I got to know that marketing and design are two overlapping domains and that some additions to my skill set can be a bridge. After understanding that there is no need to start over, I started learning about design on my own. I found that there are many resources available online, from design tutorials to communities where designers share their work and feedback. By exploring these resources, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the principles and techniques of design.
As a marketer, I already had a user-centric approach to my work, but I realized that for design, it needs to be polished. I began to learn about research tactics and ideation strategies that designers use to create meaningful experiences for users. With all this new knowledge, I am excited to make a heartfelt transition from a marketer to a designer.
Creating a great experience for users is the best part of marketing with a lot of creativity and purpose. While marketing is for the company’s benefit, user experience is for the users' benefit. And, I found that to be much more motivating.
Moreover, the time I spent in marketing helped me to lay a foundation for my career as a designer. I can use the skills I gained in marketing to focus on the business needs of the products and distill insights from user research.
By combining my experience in marketing with my new skills in design, I believe I can create more effective and meaningful experiences for users that also align with the goals of the business.
